Artificial intelligence plays an increasingly important role in our smartphones. From camera to battery performance, through all kinds of applications they use AI to improve their performance.
Although it may seem intangible, it is possible to measure its power, and know if your smartphone is "intelligent" thanks to this application.
The presentation at the last IFA 2018 of Huawei's new chip, the Kirin 980, was an important milestone in the introduction of artificial intelligence in our smartphones.
This does not mean that before we could not enjoy AI in our terminals, but this time Huawei wanted to make special emphasis on this aspect.
At the moment, only the Mate 20 family devices and the recent Honor View20 have this chip.
Qualcomm does not want to be left behind in the field of IA and has already introduced its Snapdragon 855, the SoC that will wear much of the 2019 flagships, and which promises an IA performance three times greater than its predecessor.

Why is Artificial Intelligence important in our smartphones?
Several aspects and features of the new smartphones benefit from improved AI performance. One of the most eye-catching is the photographic aspect.
Thanks to AI, captures are much better and the recognition of objects and scenes is much faster. It also adjusts exposure values and capture time more precisely.
Another area where AI work is observed is battery performance and life, as applications using artificial intelligence have much greater energy efficiency.
In addition, it also offers more accurate translations thanks to machine learning. Alexa, Google Assistant and the rest of the voice assistants benefit from them.
How can I measure the AI power of my smartphone?
This is all very well but difficult to prove, isn't it? How do I know if my device is powerful in terms of AI? One way to do this is through AI Benchmark, an application available on the Google Play Store and compatible from Android 8.1.
All you have to do is open the app and perform the benchmark, which will take you less than 10 minutes. We recommend 100% battery testing.
After the analysis, the app will give us a figure, which we can compare with other devices in order to really value it.
For example, my Samsung Galaxy A7, with an Exynos 7885 processor, offers a result of 3050, which the application values as Medium Performance.
