Have you just received photos and videos sent by your friends and family and would like to save them on your iPhone?

Unlike Whatsapp, the iOS Messaging application does not automatically transfer media to your movie. This is a process that users have to do themselves.

In this article, we explain the simple ways to save iMessage files in your photo library.

Recommended item: Do not automatically save the photos in WhatsApp.

Record an iMessage photo or video

Here’s how to transfer received photos to your iMessage iOS :

  • Open the Messages application on your iPhone.
  • Click on the conversation containing the files to be backed up.
  • Go to the name of your contact, and then to Infos.
  • Choose an image.
  • At the bottom left of the screen, touch the share icon.
  • Choose Save.

To save a recently received snapshot, simply find it in the conversation thread, hold your finger down and select Save.

Record multiple iMessage photos or videos simultaneously

To file several images at once, follow the steps below:

  • Open the Messages application on your iPhone.
  • Click on the conversation containing the files to be backed up.
  • Go to the name of your contact, and then to Infos.
  • Touch View all photos.
  • At the top right of the screen, go to Select.
  • Tap on each photo you want to upload.
  • It ends with Save, in the lower left corner.

In just 7 steps, you’ve just added photos to your movie collection.

Saving photos automatically via AirDrop

As mentioned above, for some unknown reason, Apple does not allow automatic backup of photos received through iMessage. However, there is another way to make them appear in your iPhone library, using AirDrop.

AirDrop

If you are in the presence of the person you want to share your files with, then use AirDrop. To do this, first make sure it is set up:

  • Go to your Control Center.
  • Press and hold the graphic network card (the square with the Airplane Mode, WiFi, Cellular Data and Bluetooth icons).
  • Press the AirDrop option.
  • Then choose the sharing mode you want to activate, Contacts Only or All.

You are now ready to send or receive photos via AirDrop. To do so:

  • Open an image.
  • Touch the share icon at the bottom left of the screen.
  • Tap the AirDrop icon and choose your contact.
