Deleted WhatsApp messages
A little-known feature of WhatsApp allows you to read messages that have been deleted.
WhatsApp users will now be able to read messages that were deleted with a simple little-known trick.
This trick uses the backups that the mobile application makes automatically from time to time.
To read deleted WhatsApp messages, you must start by removing the mobile application from the smartphone.
After that, it is reinstalled from the PlayStore. Reinstalling restores all WhatsApp chats, including deleted messages.
That's because WhatsApp backs up at exactly 2 a.m. in the morning, every day.
WhatsApp backs up and keeps a constant record of all sent messages, including deleted messages.
Other tricks for reading a deleted message
Although it is not a native feature of WhatsApp, it is one of the most used by Internet users. This is 'Notification History Log', an application that keeps a history of the messages that come to you, even those that are deleted inside the chat.
To read deleted messages, follow these steps:
- Download the 'Notification History Log' app from the Play Store for free.
- When you enter the application, enable the general notification log or just the WhatsApp log (whatever you want).
- In the 'Android.text' or 'Advanced History' section you can review what the deleted messages said taking into account the saved history.
It should be remembered that WhatsApp currently has more than 1.5 billion active users worldwide and in Colombia 84% of users claim to use WhatsApp more frequently. In second place is Facebook Messenger with 9%, 4% Messenger Lite, Skype 2% and Telegram 1% of users, according to Marketing 4 Ecommerce.
WhatsApp has long since added a feature that millions of users demanded: the ability to delete messages so that no one can see them within seven minutes of sending.
But as always happens with this type of functions, made the law, made the trap, and although many people do not know, there is a very simple method to read the deleted messages.
It works on all Android and all you have to do is install a simple application that wasn't even intended for this.
If you want to know how to read these deleted messages even though more than seven minutes have passed, here we leave you this small tutorial that not for simple is less important. Until WhatsApp finds a solution to this, anyone can read that deleted message if they wish.
How to view messages deleted by others
What's the trick? Basically take advantage of the notification history to read the message.
In other words, even if the person deletes the message, it will have already jumped to our notification tray.
More importantly, although it is later replaced by "this message has been deleted", there are methods to retrieve any previous notification and thus keep a record of the messages that were sent at the time.
This method has a number of limitations that are worth naming. Let no one think these tricks are infallible. These are the requirements to be able to read a deleted WhatsApp message:
- Only for Android 6.0 Marshmallow or higher.
- We must have received the message notification at some point.
- For this to happen you must have read the message, swiped your finger over it to delete the notification or interacted in some way with the message that will be deleted.
- If you're inside WhatsApp, it won't generate the notification.
- You will only see 100 characters of the deleted message, as notifications have this limit.
- The trick is for text messages, no images, no GIFs.
As we see it is quite limited but still can be very useful at a given time for any reason. Once the limitations are known, let's see how we can access the notification log.
Applications for reading the history of notifications
The easiest way to access these messages is to install a notification logger. This is a type of Android applications that have been with us for some years and serve to have a list of notifications with a whole series of details about them.
Here we leave you three of them, but you can find many similar in Google Play:
Notification History Log1.7.1
Notif Log notification history1.6.0
After giving permission to the appropriate application, we will access a screen similar to the following screenshot.
We are shown the information of the application, the time and date, the name of the owner of the device and under the extra "android.text" the message itself WhatsApp.
This field of Android.text will be kept in the registry if the conditions that we have mentioned before are fulfilled. Basically these apps save any notification we have received at some point.
How to retrieve and view deleted messages in Whatsapp with WhatsRemoved
To start using WhatsRemoved+ and be able to view deleted messages in WhatsApp, the first thing we need to do is download and install the application.
In addition, we will be able to indicate if we also want to monitor deleted files in WhatsApp. With everything ready and properly configured in WhatsRemoved+, we'll be able to see deleted messages in WhatsApp, even if they contained a photo.
After installing WhatsRemoved+ we may need to close and reopen WhatsApp if we had it open on the mobile to start detecting notifications from the messaging application.
In any case, from now on, every time someone deletes a message from one of our WhatsApp chats, WhatsRemoved will detect it and show us the message that has been deleted.
To do this, simply touch on the notification that will show us the app itself as having detected a deleted message in WhatsApp.
This will take us directly to the application and there we can see the messages deleted in WhastApp either text or photos and who is the contact who sent it.
As easy as that, though, given that WhatsRemoved+ is a free app, we will have no choice but to live with the advertising it shows from time to time, unless we want to go through the box to remove it.
How to view the notification history without installing an app
If you have an Android with a stock version or Nova Launcher, you can access this notification record manually, without having to install any extra application. The result will be identical to the one described above.
To recover the deleted notifications we must add a widget keeping the desktop pressed, select "direct access to Settings" and there the notifications record.
Once added to the desktop, we will be able to access it to consult all the history of notifications and see the different messages sent to us from WhatsApp, which will remain there even if the sender has decided to delete them.
