If you have a Gmail account that you no longer use, or the one you just want to get rid of, this time we’ll tell you how to delete a Gmail account step-by-step.
However, you must first bear in mind that this is a definitive and permanent process.
Also, if you’ve used this account to sign in to different products and services, you’ll need to change your account information or create new accounts, so you should do this before getting rid of your Gmail account.
Delete a Gmail account forever, step-by-step
When you’re about to delete a Gmail account, only the data in the Gmail email will be deleted. Your Google identity, and the other services of the company you use, such as YouTube. Having clarified this, let’s proceed to delete a Gmail account.
First, sign in to your Gmail account from your regular browser. Click on your account icon in the top right corner and select ‘Google Account’. You will be taken to a new screen with different options related to your account.
In the menu on the left hand side of the screen, click on “Data and personalization”. Now scroll down the screen and select the option “Delete a service or account”.
In the new screen, click on the option “Remove a Google service”. You will then have to enter your password again.
Then click a trash can symbol next to the service you’d like to delete, in this case Gmail. If you wish, before deleting a service you will be able to download your data. To do so, click on Download data and follow the instructions.
You’ll now need to enter an alternate email address so that you can sign in to other Google services once your default Gmail address is gone.
Finally, click ‘Remove Gmail,’ a blue button in the lower left corner of your screen, and you’re done.
