WhatsApp: Enabling Fingerprint Unlocking on your Cell Phone
WhatsApp now allows fingerprint-based unlocking on Android.
It is possible to make the application require your fingerprint after a certain time.
The lock also eliminates notifications to prevent them from being read by prying eyes.
WhatsApp now officially supports fingerprint blocking in Android.
Previously, to protect your conversations, a six-digit code or even two-factor authentication could be implemented.
This new, simpler and faster process should make the application more secure, while preventing prying eyes from falling on your conversations, since once blocked, notifications can be purged of sensitive information.
How to enable fingerprint unlocking in WhatsApp
Incoming calls, on the other hand, are not blocked. iPhone users have been familiar with this feature for many months. On supported models, they can even use Face ID to make unlocking even faster and more reliable.
Specifically, you can choose to request the fingerprint immediately, after 1 minute or after 30 minutes. You can find an option to show or hide the content of the notifications once they have been blocked.
To activate the lock/unlock of the fingerprints:
- Open WhatsApp
- Go to Settings > Accounts > Privacy
- Choose the time after which the smartphone will be locked.
- Select whether to show or hide the contents of the notifications.
Now it will be more difficult for the curious to access your WhatsApp messages.
