Like the rest of the face and body, the lips must be pampered all year round. And this is even more important in the winter season, when sensitive areas and skin can work too quickly.

The culprits? Changes in temperature, humidity, wind and cold air that dehydrate the epidermis and make it more vulnerable.

Therefore, to avoid damaging your beautiful smile and suffering from cracked or unsightly dead skin, it is essential to establish a proper skin care routine.

And yes, to have healthy lips, don't skip the exfoliation step.

The peel should be done no more than once a week and will gently remove the dead cells that actually alter the appearance of your lips.

You can opt for a homemade recipe based on honey and sugar for softness and flexibility or buy a ready-made exfoliant from the stores.

However, be careful to choose one that is dedicated exclusively to this sensitive area of your face. To apply it, nothing is easier than passing the brush through the mouth with small circular movements and then rinsing with water.

    Moisturize your mouth

After exfoliating, you can move on to hydration. Always carry a toothpick shaped lip balm for comfort (use the jar format for home use) but don't overuse it either.

It is important to hydrate yourself, but you must know how to determine the right balance so that your skin does not become too accustomed to it. Otherwise, as you go along, the balms will no longer have any effect on you.

Choose a treatment rich in shea butter, honey, beeswax, olive oil or cocoa butter, for example, because these ingredients are infallible in moisturizing and nourishing your mouth.

    Repair damaged lips

If your lips are already cracked and damaged, treat them properly. Apply a thick layer of lip balm to your lips and leave it on overnight. You can also use honey for its softening and healing properties. Your lips will be repaired and relieved.

    Gestures to avoid

Avoid moistening your lips as much as possible with your tongue. They can dry out even more due to moisture, which has a very negative effect on the thin, sensitive skin of the lips.

If your lips are already well damaged, just forget about lipsticks that are too flashy, too dark or matte. They will only highlight your little flaws and delay the healing process. So take care of yourself before you reapply your favorite lipstick.
