Extracting the wisdom teeth is perhaps very frightening and painful. Although the removal of any dental piece, however simple it may seem, is not uncomfortable, perhaps this particular tooth may be considered the worst.
How to recover after removing wisdom teeth

1. Rest after Removing the wisdom tooth
All recovery process of the body deserves rest, this is because this way you allow your brain, your cells and your body in general to work to regenerate and alleviate what is wrong.
It is necessary that you take into account a relative rest the first 48 hours after the extraction.
With relative rest I mean not making physical efforts, such as lifting heavy things, running, exercising, even suspending housework will help.
2. Take the medicines as directed by your prescription
As a general rule, it is normal for your surgeon to prescribe a painkiller, an antibiotic and an anti-inflammatory.
The type, dose and brand of medicines will be evaluated by your surgeon based on the complexity of your surgery, your age and your health conditions, so you should not self-medicate.
The antibiotic will help you prevent an infection, so you should usually take it for 5 days. Do not forget to check with the doctor about the days to be taken.
The anti-inflammatory helps to decrease inflammation, you may need to take it for 5 to 7 days and sometimes you may be told to take it before surgery. Consult with the doctor if there are contradictions.
An analgesic, this is more than necessary to help control the pain. You will only take it while you are in pain and it is highly recommended to take it immediately upon exiting the surgery, before the effect of anesthesia passes or you will have immediate pain.
Ice helps to reduce the pain and inflammation of the area, besides numbing, believe me, it will provide you with a great well-being.
A tip, when you apply ice to the skin do not do it directly, because it burns, uses a cloth or a thin towel to cover the ice.
To avoid getting wet and dirty while the ice melts, place it first in a bag and then use some cloth or towel to cover it.
You can place one or several ice packs in the refrigerator the day before, so they are ready when you need them.
Unless the discomfort is unbearable, at night interrupt the ice to try to rest.
4. Heat packs
After 24 hours your ally will be the heat. The heat packs on the outside of the tooth will help reduce pain.

Additional tip, in a blanket bag or a cotton cloth you can put a cup of rice, tie it and put the bag in the microwave for 1 to 2 minutes, this works like a hot compress, but it is more practical and heat Is preserved for about 10 minutes.
Also the bags that sell in the pharmacies to which you can put cold or hot water are of help.
5. Take care of your food
Even if you feel good it is preferable that you avoid greasy and irritating foods during the first 5 days after surgery. A mild diet is preferable to avoid complications.
Avoid foods with seeds such as chia, guava, pomegranate, kiwi, because they can get stuck in the extraction holes and produce an infection.
As an additional measure do not spit the first 24 hours, to avoid throwing a clot that has formed in the scar of the tooth.
Spitting after surgery is similar to when a scab is removed from a wound, this increases the healing time.
