But mold also attacks wood, especially on wooden furniture near a wet area or attached to a wall.

Here are our miracle recipes for removing a mold stain from wood.

Remove the mold with white vinegar.

White vinegar is generally effective in removing mold stains on wood if they are not too deep-rooted. This is why it is important to act quickly.

The recipe is very simple, in a spray bottle, mix half water and half white vinegar.

Spray moldy wood well with this solution and let it work for several hours, then clean it with a dry cloth.

It is not necessary to scrub with a brush or rinse with water because the white vinegar is diluted.

If the smell of vinegar bothers you, add a few drops of lemon, tea tree or lavender essential oil. If the presence of mold persists, repeat the operation.

Cleaning up the mould from the raw wood

To remove the mold from the raw wood, we simply advise you to use a sponge and Marseille soap diluted in water. Rub well and rinse.

Another solution is to sand with steel wool. If you don’t get the desired result, clean the mold stains with a cloth soaked in hydrogen peroxide or ammonia.

Rinse quickly with a damp cloth and allow to dry. Protect your hands with gloves. Caution, these products may dilute the wood.

Cleaning the mold on varnished wood

If you find mold on varnished wood furniture, the problem should be treated in two steps.

The first step is to dry the wood by massaging it with talc (this operation should be repeated until the wood is dry).

You can also rub the wood with sandpaper. The second step is to remove the moldy wood by rubbing the remains with a cloth impregnated with linseed oil or turpentine.

Let your furniture dry out for a long time. This solution will unfortunately remove the varnish from the wood, so remember to re-varnish the cleaned surface.

Removing the mold from painted wood

To remove a mold stain on a painted wooden furniture, start by rubbing with a sandpaper or an iron straw. Dust with a damp cloth.

Then mix bleach with water in a container in the same amounts and rub the stain with a cloth soaked in the mixture. Rinse well with clean water and allow to dry.

If necessary, you will have to repaint the furniture. Be careful, when using bleach, protect your hands with gloves.

Removing mold from white wood

If your white wood furniture is stained with mold, first sand the infected area with glass wool and then rub it with a brush.

Vacuum any residue. If this is not sufficient, such as when removing a mold stain from painted wood, line up the moldy area with a cloth dampened with a mixture of bleach and water, then rinse well and let the wood dry.

Cleaning the waxed wood mold

As with varnished wood, the stain should be dried first by rubbing with sandpaper or glass straw. Dust with a damp cloth, or vacuum.

Then treat the mold by rubbing the infected area with a cloth soaked in bleached water and then rinsing.

Protect your hands during this process. When the wood is dry, it must be re-waxed.

Removing the mold from teak wood

Teak is a rot-resistant material, ideal for outdoor use. However, the dust that accumulates on it can form and develop mold. If this happens to you, don’t worry, it is not irreversible.

Clean off mold stains with a cloth soaked in bleached water, leave it for about 20 minutes and rinse well.

Regular cleaning is the solution to prevent the appearance of mold on your teak furniture. Rub your furniture with a soft brush and Marseille soap.

Removing the mold on the exterior wood

After an unprotected winter, mold can appear on your outdoor wood furniture or your terrace or balcony.

This is due to the combined action of cold, sun and humidity and if the wrong wood protection has been used. Then you can see black traces of mold.

How do you clean these mold marks? You can start by rubbing the wood with a brush, water and black soap or Marseille soap.

If this is not enough, polish with an anti-mildew cleaner. In addition to removing mold marks, it will treat the wood and prevent mold from reappearing. Do not use bleach, it will kill your plantations.
