Soap and water: the first step is to wash the jars with warm water and soap to remove all food debris and odours left inside. To make the task easier, use a synthetic fiber sponge.
Sterilization: Place the glass jars in a pan large enough and deep enough so that when filled with water, the liquid does not spill. With the lid on, let it boil for 15 to 20 minutes and then turn it off.
Steam: heat is what will sterilize the jars and lids. However, it is important that you let the pot and jars cool themselves, do not take them out suddenly so that the concentrated water vapour completes the process.
Drainage: to avoid accidents and burns, it is advisable to empty the water from the pot first before the glass jars. Use a pair of cloth gloves when removing the lid and slowly drain the contents.
Storage: When removing the containers, it is important to use a sterilized kitchen clamp so as not to contaminate the glass jars.
For best preservation, place them on a clean napkin, face down and cover with a towel. It is advisable to do this task together with the preparation of soups, sauces or compotes to pack them all at once.
