The banana : health benefits and virtues

Banana

The banana (Musa Spienta) belongs to the family Musaceae. Native to Southeast Asia, the banana is present throughout the year. The banana tree is an herbaceous plant and not a tree, which can reach 9 to 12 m in height.

Bananas grow in sunny regions, especially in Guadeloupe, Martinique and the Canary Islands.

The Cavendish is the most consumed banana by athletes.

For digestive ailments, banana relieves inflammations and burns of the digestive tract.

The banana calms the gastric acidity and also protects the mucous membrane that covers the stomach, which reduces the appearance of gastric ulcers.

The banana is a real energy reserve. It provides 90 kcal/100g and 20g of carbohydrates. Athletes also appreciate it for its ability to limit cramps.

Bananas have antioxidant properties. This ensures cell renewal and reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease by lowering bad cholesterol.
When very ripe, bananas can be effective in cancer prevention by stimulating the activation of immune cells. Daily consumption of bananas can reduce the development of kidney cancer.

The use of banana is recommended in case of anemia. Rich in iron, it stimulates the production of red blood cells (RBCs) that carry oxygen in the blood.

90 kcal/100g. Bananas provide starch, vitamins C and B, potassium, magnesium and iron.

Since the glycemic index of bananas is 65, consumption of bananas should not be excessive in people with diabetes.

En papillote at the barbecue: Cut the banana lengthwise, put it in aluminum foil, add chocolate squares. Put your papillote on the hot coals of your barbecue!

Banana chips: Cut your banana into slices. Bathe the slices in hot oil. Salt and serve cold or hot as an appetizer.

Fruit purée: Use your damaged bananas by frying them in a pan with other damaged fruits (peaches and apricots go very well with bananas), a spoonful of water, cinnamon, sweeten slightly. Do not cook, just reduce. Eat cold or hot, on toast or in your cottage cheese.

Banana cultivation

The banana tree can be planted in pots indoors or outdoors, as well as in the open ground.
