WhatsApp group video calls were announced during the F8 conference on May 1 and are ready to reach the first iOS and Android users.
Make sure you have them active in your account and find out how they work!
Can you now video call multiple contacts at the same time?
Once again, WABetaInfo keeps us updated on the latest WhatsApp news. The application would already be testing group video calls on beta users.
The feature has been released for a limited number of iOS users with the application updated to version 2.18.52 and Android for beta users with version 2.18.145.
To be able to make a video call with multiple contacts at the same time on Android, you must make sure you have the application updated to version 2.18.145 beta or higher. To know the version of the application we can consult it here:
- Open WhatsApp.
- Enter the application settings.
- Select Help > Application Information.
How to make group video calls on WhatsApp
The use of this new function is very simple. Start a new video call with the first contact as if it were a normal video call. When the call is established we will have an icon in the corner to add more contacts to it.
For now, the feature is only available to some users (unfortunately and despite being beta tester, group video calls are not yet available on my account), but the global distribution will not be long in coming.
