Auriculotherapy to relieve pain.

Pain is the leading cause of consultation in developed countries. In the context of chronic diseases, there are more than 800 reasons for consultation or indications for analgesic treatment (neck pain, low back pain, headaches, arthrosis, abdominal pain, neuropathic pain, etc.).

The solutions exist.

Pain is controlled by various means, including in pain treatment centers.

These means include therapies with oral or injectable medications (infiltrations, injection of analgesics, anesthetics and/or corticosteroids, injectable morphine pump, etc.)

As well as other non-pharmacological techniques, including auriculotherapy.

We can also mention neurostimulation techniques, physiotherapy, physical therapy, osteopathy, physical exercise, acupuncture, cognitive-behavioral therapy or multiple relaxation techniques.

Some of which are derived from complementary medicine. We will also add therapeutic patient education approaches.

Of the drugs offered, opioids represent about one tenth of the drugs available.

They have many long-term side effects, known and described, more or less serious (cognitive disorders, sleep disorders, constipation, ... addiction and overdose).

Therefore, for some patients with chronic pain, the combination of a complementary medicine, such as auriculotherapy, is particularly interesting and can help the person fight the pain.

Ear therapy, how does it work?

Auriculotherapy is a therapeutic approach that consists of requesting specific points in the auricular pavilion of the ear to alleviate various ailments. The indications of the auriculotherapy are not limited to the pain. Also it is possible to be proposed to fight stress, the upheavals of the dream, the tinnitus, for example.

How is the auriculotherapy going?

A session of auriculotherapy lasts between 30 and 45 minutes.

It begins with an interrogation and a clinical examination.

Once the patient is lying down, the auriculotherapist detects specific areas of the ear that he stimulates by pricking, using needles or with a cryogenic needle (because of the cold).

The treatment is defined by the auriculotherapist adjusting with his patient, the type, the treatments and the number of sessions required.

In general, the therapist sees patients once a month for three months. After that, a check-up is done. We may decide to continue with maintenance treatment.
