Windows 10 performance
There are several ways to truly improve the performance of Windows 10.
Use all of the following tricks to get the best results and increase your computer's speed as much as possible.
Make Windows work 100%.
Follow these steps to choose the "High Performance" plan from the available Windows power options. Many PCs have some form of economy activated by default that reduces their performance.
Enables (or disables) quick start
It is a new option of the most recent Windows. It speeds up the computer's startup by means of settings that are taken care of by Windows itself. You just do this to enable that option in Windows 10.
IMPORTANT:
In some cases, quick start causes the opposite of what it should. In such cases, it must be deactivated. I explain how to do it in the same link on how to activate it.
Removes leftover programs at startup
It is normal for several programs to start at the same time as Windows. In many cases they are not necessary. Removing these unnecessary programs makes the start faster. It also improves the overall operation of the PC, because they do not stay loaded unnecessarily in the memory.
Gain space on your hard drive
Windows and your programs need free disk space to work at their best. Follow these steps to automatically and safely clean up what's left over on your disk.
Review and optimize the disk
It gets messy with daily use or when installing programs or copying new files into it.
That makes it slower. Apart from that, there are disk errors that you must repair before they turn into something serious that will even lead you to lose your things.
- Check and repair the disc
- Automatically optimizes the disk
Updates drivers
Every Windows needs its own drivers so that your PC, printer or other devices work well, without errors and 100%. Keeping the drivers up to date is always important. And it can even be critical if you've changed from Windows by upgrading to Windows 10.
There are two kinds of drivers you need to update:
- Get the drivers for your motherboard
- Download drivers for your devices (printers, scanners, webcams, etc.)
Bring Windows up to date
There are many good reasons to keep Windows up to date. Follow this link on how to check and install all available updates in Windows Update.
More than one is aimed at increasing stability and performance. Sometimes they also fix problems caused by previous updates that didn't go well (can happen).
Check your Windows
Checks and repairs damaged system files. They can be the reason for all kinds of failures and a general slowness of the equipment.
The tool in that link automatically searches for and fixes problems related to a poor installation/upgrade of Windows or your corrupted files.
Discards RAM and virtual memory problems
Memory failures make everything work worse or not even work at all. Follow these steps to check the RAM of your PC and see if it is in good condition.
Apart from that, try to save memory by keeping open only the programs or apps you really need at all times. The ideal thing would be also to extend the RAM of your equipment putting more. If you don't have that option do this to try to optimize virtual memory.
Lower the temperature of your PC
Very hot equipment fails more often and is less fast. You may even lose your things or have your equipment damaged without repair. See what temperature your PC should have and what it actually has. It also follows the appropriate methods among these to reduce the temperature.
Are you infected?
Viruses or similar almost always slow down your Internet connection and normal computer use. Do a full scan with a good antivirus to make sure you're clean. Two good free options are Panda or Avira. Google them.
Limits visual effects
Improve the look of Windows but for a price. To configure them more efficiently:
- Click the RIGHT mouse button on the Windows Start menu and choose System.
- Click the Advanced System Settings link on the left. In the window that opens, click on the Settings THAT IS UPPER button.
- A list of available visual effects appears. These settings help to improve speed:
- Let Windows choose the most appropriate settings for your computerIn
principle, this is the most appropriate option. Windows is supposed to adapt the effects to the power of your PC. - Adjust to get the best performanceIt's
the option that improves it the most but leaves Windows looking too "naked". Although you decide if it's okay with you. - PersonalizeTo
choose from the list the specific effects that you want to leave activated or not. Keep at least enabled Smooth edges for screen fonts. Or the look of the text will be very bad.
- Let Windows choose the most appropriate settings for your computerIn
- Click OK in that window and in the window you are returning to.
To finish
None of the above have made your team any faster? Then try repairing Windows 10 with its various repair modes.
If that doesn't solve the problem either, consider returning to your previous Windows from Windows 10 if you've upgraded to it. Or go to a technical service to have your PC serviced.
